21.09.2009_Gynae Appointment

Alexis is now near to 3.1kg and she will be due anytime from now...

'Are you ready?' - everyone asks.

'Yes, ready ready ready, to go anytime!' - says me.

Each time I feel a little discomfort, Aaron would say: 'ok, let's observe and see how it goes'.
Daddy is getting excited! - 'Relax, daddy' :)

Our conversation now encircles 'Alexis' - her overall development, cultivation of good habits/character traits/EQ/IQ, the Do's & Dont's (for her, as well as ourselves), etc..; this is what I deem important - husband and wife should be discussing and taking responsibility together for the well-being of their child. This is what makes a FAMILY.

Too early to talk about all these?? Definitely not.
The concentration power of a newborn from 0-4years old is at the highest - 50% of what the child sees/hears stays in his memory. From 5years onwards, their concentration level drops to 30% (approx. 5-10year old) and then 20% (approx. 11-thereafter year old). Therefore, the peak in their development is most crucial during the first few years.

I spent a whole afternoon (on 16.09.09) with one of my girlfriend (Lydia), talking about growth and development of a child. We were both very much into early childhood education and believe strongly that education starts from birth. She shared with me her many experiences working with children, and the amazing results she sees in children as young as 3-4years of age, who underwent those children's program - it was a 'rich' afternoon spent.

After this enriching afternoon, I decided to prepare a lesson plan for Alexis. Of course, bearing in mind that all learnings during this period ought to be fun sessions for her and not one that will ever stress out her young mind.

"Babies are SMARTER than you THINK.
They can Add before they can Count.
They can Understand a hundred words before they can Speak.
And at three months, their powers of Memory are far greater than we ever imagine"
